Mind Enhancing Breathe Well – Be Well
To feel well and perform at your peak it is essential to breathe well. By that, I mean to use your breath in such a way you control what is happening in brain and body, under a variety of circumstances.
By breathing slowly and deeply when anxious or stressed, for example, both your heart rate and level of physical anxiety will be significantly decreased. This is shown on the graph below.
Peter’s heart rate of was over 100 beats per minutes and his skin response indicated a measure of anxiety. By slowing and deepening his breathing he was able, in just a few moments, to slow his heart and become more relaxed. Watch as I describe the link between the way we breathe and the way we feel.
